Is This You?

I work with women in midlife who want to understand why they haven’t been able to lose and/or control their weight. My clients are women who recognize that if they are going to make changes that work they better try something with substance behind it. My clients wish to take care of themselves WELL for the rest of their lives.

Do You Relate to Any of the Following?

I’ve spent most of my adult life hating my body and struggling to lose weight that just won’t come off. I don’t want to spend the next half of my life wasting so much energy and money. There has to be a better way.”

“I dread exercising. It feels like a chore or punishment. Over the years I’ve tried every type of gym and workout, but I always lose my motivation and drop out.”

Every year my doctor tells me to lose weight - and now I’m 30 pounds heavier than I used to be. I don’t know how it happened or how I can stop the weight from continuing to creep up on me.”

I don’t have time for one more thing. I’m constantly on the run and while I’d like to take better care of myself, I just can’t find time to exercise.”

I don’t want to spend the rest of my life hating my body. But I don’t know how to accept myself when I’m so out of shape.”

If one or more of these scenarios is true for you, read on. You’ve come to the right place!

Why Is My Approach For Women in Midlife?

1. Because we are in midlife, we have gained wisdom from our past experiences. We know what’s in our best interests, even when it conflicts with so-called expert prescriptions. We recognize that our previous, numerous attempts to lose weight haven’t been sustainable. By midlife, we are too smart to continue doing things that haven’t worked for us in the past.

2. We’re ready to re-prioritize and take care of ourselves - at last! Many of us were taught to put everyone and everything else first. But we’ve learned that this approach leaves virtually no time for ourselves. Now is the time to change that, so we can enjoy the rest of our life with more energy and good health!

3. We’re tired of wasting money on fitness products, rather than developing a lifelong relationship with fitness. Many of us grew up before the passage of Title IX (legislation that forced schools to create athletic programs for girls). This means we learned our attitudes towards physical activity not from teachers or coaches, but from advertising - and we’ve spent thousands of dollars on fitness and services touting false promises.

4. We know that what used to work isn’t working anymore. Menopause and hormonal changes alter women’s bodies and complicate losing and controlling weight, so we need to take a different, smarter approach.
