How It Works

Women who work with me are ready to take ownership of their lives. They are ready to take themselves of of the back burner so they can feel better and live more fully. They also recognize that if they are going to make behavioral changes that last - they better choose something smart, something that has SUBSTANCE behind it. The S.M.A.R.T. concept below reflects transformational principles that I researched and use with clients to transform exercise from a chore into a gift so they stay motivated to do it.

S.M.A.R.T. Fitness for Women

Sustainable: The core goal is to make physical activity feel like a gift, and an essential part of daily life, so it is sustainable instead of cyclical. If we don’t begin with the end in mind we won’t achieve the true destination, life-long participation. An important reason most weight-loss programs don’t work is that they don’t address the underlying barriers women have to making their own self-care a daily priority. Most programs also mandate that you tackle diet and exercise at the same time, when these are two very different and difficult things to do. Most of us are just too busy to overhaul both at the same time.

I take a sequential approach. I believe that we should only learn one behavior change at time. Let’s be realistic. It takes a great deal of attention and energy to learn how to integrate one behavior into our lives. Why would we try and learn how to sustain more than one behavior at a time?! We should make sure each lifestyle change really sticks before we add on another one.

My Time: Become comfortable saying “I deserve to feel good.” This isn’t just about finding time to move your body; it’s also about allowing yourself to curl up on the couch with a great book, or fit in a long phone call with an old friend. Too many women prioritize their work and families above their own needs because we haven’t been taught to sufficiently value the idea that taking regular My Time restores our bodies and minds and makes us more effective in all of our roles and responsibilities. I help you deeply internalize the concept of My Time, so you can take yourself off the back burner and stop compromising your well-being and long-term health.  My clients learn how to take their essential steps to daily well-being and self-realization  - consistently. 

Authentic: Make exercise reflect who YOU are, not the other way around. No one sticks with a workout that doesn’t feel authentic or that they don’t like. Realistic: Replace unrealistic goals with more reasonable ones that will lead to real, lasting results. Together, We’ll work to set goals that affirm instead of reject YOU. These goals will also fit into your life so that you can easily attain and sustain them.
